WRITING.

I am available for writing commissions, collaborations, literary hosting, talks and workshops on books and writing.

I have a Masters with Distinction from The Writing School at MMU.

I write short stories and non-fiction, including cultural criticism and heritage writing.

I have worked as an art critic, and as theatre critic for Manchester Evening News.

I am a host at Manchester Literature Festival and have worked as a consultant for New Writing North.

My short stories range from historical fiction to the strange and uncanny.

I have been nominated for the V. S. Pritchett Short Story Prize, the Aesthetica Creative Writing Award, and the DISQUIET Prize for Fiction, and received judges’ special commendation in The Stinging Fly / FBA Fiction Prize.

I was awarded a place on the Paul McVeigh West Cork Writing Residency 2026 and was recipient of a grant from the Oppenheim-John Downes Memorial Trust for my fiction.

EDITING.

I worked in publishing for eleven years and since then I have worked as a freelance developmental editor, copyeditor, and proofreader, helping authors and editors to ready manuscripts for submission or final publication.

I have worked on fiction, non-fiction, monographs, edited collections, anthologies, memoir, poetry, stage plays, exhibition brochures, academic and para-academic texts.

I can undertake non-academic peer reviews for trade publications and beta reads for a wide range of writing.

I also mentor writers to work consistently, finish and deliver their work.
