Creative Director, Superbia, Manchester Pride, 2016–2022.
Superbia was the year-round calendar of LGBTQIA culture from Manchester Pride. Through it we offered support to queer arts and culture projects across Greater Manchester, including free event promotion and access to a dedicated grants programme.
During my time on the project I curated dozens of events, partnered with community groups, and worked with hundreds of artists across many disciplines, including literature, film, dance, theatre, photography, education, drag, publishing and more.
Each August Bank Holiday The Superbia Weekend offered a mostly free programme of events to complement the main Manchester Pride programme, including cinema, author events, sober socials, cabaret, yoga and more.
Some highlights of my time at Superbia include:
⭐️ Launching Day With(out) Art for Manchester, a city-wide roster of creative events designed to use art to draw attention to ongoing HIV and AIDS.
⭐️ A chapbook publishing project for emerging writer.
⭐️ Launching the queer performance festival TURN ON Fest with Hope Mill Theatre.
⭐️ Group art exhibitions.
⭐️ Superbia Cinema, a free programme of new and classic queer film.
⭐️ Pioneering partnerships with South Asian, bi, and trans, communities.
⭐️ Centring the incredible queer talent of Greater Manchester.
